It comes after Rishi Sunak was challenged about the state of the health service by a former NHS worker in Winchester last week. He says the prime minister has been "endlessly fighting with his own MPs" and "collapsing with laughter" when asked about NHS waiting lists. Sir Keir Starmer is asking his first question of the afternoon. He says the biggest "practical issue" facing Britain is the "constant farcical incompetence of the government he leads". Last week, the Labour leader quoted a Tory minister who reportedly described the Rwanda plan as "bat****". ![]() He then points to the fact Mr Sunak dubbed issues with his childcare rollout a "practical issue".īut Sir Keir says: "I prefer the honesty of whichever of his colleagues briefed to The Times that it was a 'complete s*** show'." Sir Keir says "making steelworkers redundant and failing to provide childcare is not a plan, it's a farce". "His plans mean back to square one and higher taxes for British people." He says: "But while millions of parents will benefit from that, it's right that he should come clean with them about the cost that his plans will impose on all of them. Mr Sunak says: "We're delivering the biggest ever expansion of childcare in this country's history." Sir Keir pushes on childcare again, and reported "practical issues" with the sign-up. The prime minister dodges the question, saying: "Let's see what his party is offering them." He says: "Has he found time in his busy schedule to work out why thousands of parents are being told by their nurseries that they won't get free childcare that he promised them?" Sir Keir Starmer now takes aim at problems reported with Rishi Sunak's childcare rollout, which is poised to begin for some families in April. ![]()
